Camilla Whishaw BHSc (Nat) Equine Naturopath, Nutritionist & Herbalist, founder and consultant of Optim Equine.

Camilla Whishaw BHSc (Nat) is a highly respected and sought after Equine Naturopath, Nutritionist and Herbalist. Based in Australia, Camilla consults both nationally and globally to leading breeders, trainers, owners, riders and equine hospitals. She is an experienced Equestrian and has an active lifelong involvement in the Thoroughbred breeding and racing industry.

Camilla is passionate about solving challenging equine health conditions through holistically evaluating horses and employing targeted dietary, nutraceutical, western herbal medicine and management practices.

She helps to treat a wide variety of equine health conditions and injuries, with particular passions for improving stallion and mare fertility, and treating neurological, immune and gastrointestinal health challenges.

Camilla regularly lectures and presents within Australia and internationally on all things equine health, medicine and supplementation.

Camilla’s groundbreaking research into successfully treating equine inflammatory bowel disease has been presented and published internationally.

Camilla brings credibility to the therapeutic benefit of appropriately employed nutraceuticals and herbal medicines and provides understanding on the place and role these have in veterinary medicine. As an equine health professional and an experienced horsewoman, Camilla understands the needs and practicalities when feeding, managing and treating horses.

She is passionate about teaching equine health professionals effective methods for incorporating an integrated medical approach in practice in order to address acute presenting complaints, whilst concurrently providing effective long-term solutions and health.

As a fully qualified and accredited naturopath, she is a member of professional associations ANTA and ATMS and is a TGA registered practitioner.

Naturopathy is an holistic approach to health and wellness- based on the principle that given the right conditions and support, the body has an inherent ability to heal itself.

Traditional practices are combined with scientific evidence-based medicine to facilitate optimal healing and health. Naturopathy views each patient as an individual, employing therapies and strategies to achieve the very best overall health, in addition to treating any current presenting problems.
