Unique Approach. Optimal Outcomes

A Cut Above The Rest

Optim Equine delivers a comprehensive assessment and treatment model to ensure optimal performance and health is achieved for your horse.

This involves a comprehensive review of the individual horse and all the facets relating to its current health/behaviour/injury/performance/fertility concern(s).

During an initial appointment, Camilla conducts a holistic assessment of your horse. This involves: taking a thorough case history; a physical assessment; review of current feed/dietary intake; and review of all supplements and medications. Having any medical records, blood tests, X-rays or scans (if applicable) previously taken of your horse on hand at this time is particularly valuable. In fertility cases, this also involves a comprehensive review of past vetting (mares) and semen analysis (stallions). This information helps to complete a most thorough assessment. During the consultation, Camilla takes the time to discuss with you any concerns you may have regarding your horse and any particular characteristic quirks, vices and habits. From all this information, a comprehensive treatment plan is developed, consisting of dietary and management advice, combined with herbal and nutritional supplementation where appropriate.

Camilla encourages open communication between any vets and practitioners involved in the treatment of your horse to ensure that optimal health and performance outcomes are achieved.

As Camilla works as an independent consultant (she is not associated with any feed, supplement or other companies), owners can rest assured that the advice and therapeutics offered are in the very best interests of their particular horse(s) and situation.

Whether you are looking to fine tune the feeding and management plans of large numbers of horses, or improve performances across the board, Optim Equine can help! Camilla is able to review current management practices, feeds, medications and supplements used and advise on the best strategies to improve the health and performance of your horses. This includes foal crop health, yearling development and health, racehorse health and performance, broodmare health and reproduction and stallion health and fertility.

In most cases, there are many useful changes that can be made to feeding, supplementation and management practices across the board. This is particularly useful in situations where there are recurrent problems in a large percentage of the stock (for example, a high percentage of OCDs in weanlings and/or yearlings; scouring foals; suboptimal fertility/pregnancy rates; Equine Asthma. Packages are tailored to the stud/stable and their needs.
